For a few years, a decade ago, I focused solely on the 1862 Maryland Campaign. I was fortunate to have received the SHAF Research Grant in 2013 and I wrote a lengthy research paper about Antietam and gave many presentations at various locations in Washington DC as well as at the battlefield. A few years later, I was contracted to conduct research about the "lost roads" on South Mountain. My work for this was published by MDOT.
I didn't keep up with my blog because at the time of those posts, I was working at the US Capitol and had access to the materials at the Library of Congress. When I left the US Capitol in late 2014, I no longer had all those wonderful resources available to me so I stopped writing for lack of primary sources.
I recently moved to Richmond, VA and have an overwhelming amount of battlefields to conquer!!! Although my future posts will not be as detailed as my Antietam posts, these posts will still be full of great information and my pictures.
So, here I go again down the rabbit hole of the American Civil War!!!! I hope everyone enjoys my posts!!! If you see an error in anything I post, please feel free to contact me so that I can correct the information. I'm not an expert and I don't claim to be.
